Lineage 2 has been updated in “chronicles” for more than twenty years, and private servers run almost all of them. The chronicle decides the classes, the maximum level, the zones, the items and even how fast the game feels. Here is what each popular chronicle offers and who it suits best.

C4 — Scions of Destiny
One of the early chronicles that many veterans started with. Fewer skills and systems, slower progression and a strong “old Lineage” atmosphere. C4 servers are usually low-rate and attract players who value nostalgia over convenience. C4 servers.
Interlude — the eternal favourite
Interlude (Chronicle 6) completed the original era of the game and is still the most played chronicle on private servers. The class balance is well known, third professions give every class its identity, and Olympiad, sieges and epic bosses work as players expect. Interlude is found at every rate — from x1 craft servers to x1200 PvP. Many projects run “Interlude+” with selected later features. Browse Interlude servers.
Gracia (Final, Epilogue) and Freya
The Gracia chronicles raised the level cap and added new zones such as the Seed of Destruction and Seed of Infinity. Freya continued that line. These chronicles are a middle ground: more content than Interlude, but not yet the full High Five package.
High Five — the most complete “old” chronicle
High Five is the last chronicle before the big class rework and is often called the most complete version of the original game: level 85, vitality, many instance zones, transformations and a mature economy. It suits long seasons on low and mid rates, where there is always something to do. Browse High Five servers.
Goddess of Destruction and later
GoD introduced awakening and reorganised classes into new archetypes, with a different combat pace. Private servers on GoD and newer chronicles are less common, but they appeal to players who prefer modern Lineage 2 mechanics. GoD servers.
Classic — old gameplay on a modern client
Classic brings back the early-game feel — slow leveling, meaningful parties, valuable items — using a newer client with better graphics and interface. It is ideal for players who want the hardcore experience without an ancient client. Browse Classic servers.
Essence — fast and modern
Essence is the most modern branch: simplified systems, auto-hunt, fast progression and short play sessions. It is great if you have little time or want a relaxed start. Many new launches every month are Essence projects. Browse Essence servers.
How to decide
- You want PvP and clan wars with a proven balance → Interlude.
- You want a long season with lots of content → High Five.
- You want a slow, meaningful journey → Classic or C4.
- You have little time → Essence or high-rate Interlude.
