Players choose between dozens of openings every month, and the first 48 hours decide whether a server grows or stays empty. Here is a practical promotion plan used by successful projects.
4–6 weeks before launch
- Fix the opening date and time and do not move it. Players plan their evenings and vacations around starts.
- Publish a clear website: full rates table, features, donation shop rules, FAQ, Discord/Telegram links.
- Add the server to lists with the exact date — adding to L2Servers.top is free and your launch appears in the new servers calendar.
- Start a community: Discord for the core, Telegram channel for announcements.
2 weeks before: open beta test
An OBT proves the server is real. Stream it, collect bug reports publicly and fix them fast — players watch how the team reacts. Give OBT participants a small cosmetic reward on the main server to turn testers into your first players.
Launch week: visibility
- VIP placement on top lists during launch week gives the biggest effect — this is when players are choosing. See our advertising options.
- Streamers: invite Lineage 2 streamers to start with you; viewers follow them to the server. Our Streams page shows who is live in the Lineage II category.
- Start bonuses and events: first-clan-to-level rewards, early castle sieges, Olympiad from week one.
After the start: keep the online
- Be transparent about donations — pay-to-win drives players away after the first wave.
- Answer in Discord every day; publish patch notes.
- Fight bots and dupes visibly — fair play keeps honest players.
- Plan content for weeks 2–4: new zones, events, epic boss schedules.
