The first days on a new Lineage 2 server decide a lot: who takes the best farming spots, who gets into strong clans and who falls behind for the whole season. This guide is a practical plan for a smooth start — whether it is your first private server or your fiftieth.
Before the launch
- Download and test the client during the open beta test. Launch day is not the moment to fix patches or updaters.
- Read the rules and the rates table. Knowing the adena and drop rates tells you how the economy will look. Not sure what they mean? See rates explained.
- Join the Discord or Telegram and look for a clan or a constant party before the start.
- Pick your class in advance. For a first character, a class that can farm alone is the safest choice (see our Interlude classes guide).
Day one: leveling fast
- Do the starting quests. They give the first gear, soulshots/spiritshots and useful early adena.
- Always use shots. Soulshots and spiritshots multiply your damage — a character without shots levels much slower.
- Move to the next zone on time. Monsters give less experience if they are far below your level. On most servers the community quickly finds the best spots — follow the chat.
- Party whenever possible. A party with a healer or buffer levels faster and safer than a solo player, especially on low rates.
Adena and gear grades
Equipment in Lineage 2 is divided into grades: No-grade, D, C, B, A and S (later chronicles add more). You can wear a grade without penalty only from its level, and each new grade is a big power jump. The classic path is:

Private stores and the economy
Materials, recipes and spoil drops are the real currency of a low-rate server. If you play a Dwarf, spoiling and crafting can make you rich; if not, sell materials in a private store while you are offline. Check prices in Giran before selling anything valuable.
Clans and communities
Lineage 2 is built around clans: clan skills, castle sieges, epic bosses and protection from player-killers. Join a clan early — even a small active clan is better than playing alone. Our forum has a clan recruitment section.

- Spending all adena on armor instead of a weapon.
- Farming without shots to “save” adena.
- Enchanting the only good weapon above the safe level.
